Altar Society:

The main purpose of this group is to take care of the altars in the main church and in the chapel.  Usually two people work together for about an hour on Friday or Saturday.  They are scheduled for two weeks at a time.  Depending on the number of volunteers, they would not serve again for several months.

Altar Linens Volunteer:

Volunteers are needed to wash and iron the linens used at Mass.  The more people who volunteer, the smaller the burden is on anyone.  The work is light and the reward is great!

Children's Liturgy of the Word Volunteer:

At the 9:00 am and 10:30 am liturgies on Sunday, except for the summer months, children go to the parish hall to hear the readings and gospel presented at their own level.  The helpers present the Word of God in simple terms that help the children feel connected to the Church.  Adults involved find a new vitality and understanding in their own faith!  What a Children's Liturgy Volunteer needs is a little creativity, the ability to speak with moderate size groups of children, patience, a sense of humor, 1.5 hours for the week they volunteer (for preparation and liturgy) and a true desire to share their faith with the children of Immaculate Conception Parish.  What a Children's Liturgy Volunteer does NOT need is to be perfect!

Choir:

"We believe that, in the midst of religious rituals and faith sharing, song promotes more than a musical intermission or moment of meditation.  Liturgical music provides a rich rhythmic and melodic journey that keeps time with the stages of our spiritual growth and life of commitment to Christ..." (David Haas, Pastoral Music, April-May 2007) Choir music is produced out of sheer love, in praise of God, assisting parishioners in their efforts to pray.  Rehearsals are Thursdays from 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm  The Choir sings at the 10:30 am liturgy on Sundays and other special liturgies.  New members are always welcome!

Folk Group:

Music is an important part of our weekly worship.  When we sing together, we "raise our voices and lift our hearts" in prayerful praise.
The IC Folk Group, a contemporary ensemble of voices an instruments, brings music to the 9:00 am liturgy each Sunday and leads the assembly in song.  The group rehearses Wednesday evenings, 7:00 - 8:00.  We welcome new voices, new instrumentalists, the young and the young-at-heart.  Join us!  Stop by after mass and speak with Cathy Wenthen or call the rectory.

Lectors welcome the congregation, explain the theme of the liturgy for the day, proclaim the Scripture readings, and lead the Prayer of the Faithful.  Two lectors participate at each liturgy.  Schedules are mailed.

Liturgy Committee:

Our purpose is to enhance the faith life of the Immaculate Conception Community that gathers for sacramental, especially Eucharistic, and other liturgical celebrations.  This is to be achieved through proclamation of the Word, both spoken and in song, to the people of God in an environment that reflects the spirituality and sanctity of our gathering.  The Liturgy Committee has three subcommittees: Music, Art & Environment, and Prayer & Worship.
